Code of Conduct: South Hills Artists Collaborative
Mission Statement: South Hills Artists Collaborative is a nonprofit art studio dedicated to fostering creativity, community, and artistic expression. We provide an inclusive and supportive environment for artists of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds to learn, create, and connect.
Our Commitment: We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inspiring space for everyone. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behavior within our studio to ensure a positive experience for all members, students, instructors, volunteers, and visitors.
1. Respect and Inclusivity:
- Treat everyone with respect and courtesy. This includes all individuals regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, or socioeconomic status.
- Embrace diversity of thought, artistic style, and background.
- Be mindful of personal space and boundaries.
- Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or bullying. This includes verbal, physical, visual, or emotional abuse.
- Respect differing opinions and artistic approaches. Constructive criticism should always be delivered respectfully and with the aim of helping others grow.
2. Studio Etiquette and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Clean up after yourself, put away tools and materials, and dispose of waste properly.
- Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by instructors or staff, especially when using tools, equipment, or chemicals.
- Report any safety concerns or damaged equipment immediately to a staff member.
- Be mindful of noise levels, especially during classes or focused work times.
- Use studio equipment and materials responsibly and respectfully. Do not damage or misuse property.
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times unless they are enrolled in a supervised class.
- Pets are generally not permitted, with the exception of service animals. Please notify staff in advance if bringing a service animal.
- Smoking, vaping, and the use of illegal substances are strictly prohibited on studio premises.
- Consumption of alcohol is only permitted at designated, supervised events where appropriate licenses are in place.
3. Artistic Integrity and Collaboration:
- Respect the artwork and creative process of others. Do not touch or alter another person's artwork without explicit permission.
- Provide constructive and supportive feedback. Avoid disparaging remarks or unhelpful criticism.
- Encourage and support fellow artists. Celebrate successes and offer assistance when appropriate.
- Collaborate respectfully on group projects, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.
4. Privacy and Confidentiality:
- Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information about other members or instructors without their consent.
- Obtain permission before photographing or recording individuals or their artwork within the studio.
5. Personal Conduct:
- Exhibit professional and responsible behavior at all times.
- Come to classes and workshops prepared and on time.
- Manage personal belongings responsibly. The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Address concerns or conflicts calmly and respectfully. If you are unable to resolve an issue directly, please seek assistance from a staff member.
6. Consequences of Violations:
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
- A verbal warning.
- Temporary suspension of studio privileges.
- Revocation of membership or access to studio programs without refund.
- In severe cases, legal action may be pursued.
Reporting Concerns:
If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to a studio staff member, instructor, or director. All reports will be handled with discretion and respect for privacy.
