Class Descriptions

Try It! Sessions

Not sure if getting muddy is for you? Have you always been curious to try? Or maybe you're looking for something new to do on a date or with a friend. This two hour session will introduce you to the potters wheel. You will learn how to center the clay and to make small bowls and tumblers. Up to three pieces will be fired and glazed with a color of your choice and will be ready for pick up 10 days after class. Suggested age 16+ or 10+ with an enrolled adult.


Open Studio

Open Studio - 3 hour sessions

Just looking for a place to make the work you love?  Open Studio classes offer exactly that.  Create in community with other potters to make the work you want to make.  An instructor is present but does not teach formal lessons.  Each Open Studio session comes with 10lb of house clay (Standard Ceramics #240 ^6). Additional clay can be purchased in 10lb increments for $16 or a 25lb block for $40. Glazes and firings are included in the price. The SHAC bisque fires to ^04 and glaze fires to ^6. Cre


Young Potters - 6 Sessions

Young Potters - 2 hour sessions

Do you have a young one who loves to be creative and doesn't mind a little mud?  (Who doesn't like playing in the mud??)  This six week class will introduce students to creating with clay including the potters wheel and hand building. These classes have reduced enrollment to ensure that each student gets truly individualized attention. All of our instructors hold current Pa and National child clearances as a condition for employment.  25lbs of clay, glaze, and firings included.  Ages 10- 16


Tiny Potters Camp - 6 Sessions

Tiny Potters - 2 hour sessions

This class for our youngest potters focuses on creativity in hand building.  Students will be introduced to clay as a way of having fun and expressing their creativity.  This camp concludes with an "Art Opening" for friends and family on the last day! These classes have reduced enrollment to ensure that each student gets truly individualized attention.  All of our instructors hold current PA and National child clearances as a condition for employment.  Ages 6 - 10


Ceramics Classes - 6 Sessions (Available in Fall 2025)

Ceramics with Instructor - 2.5 hour sessions

Whether you're a beginner or someone who is looking to gain some more skill, this six week class will give you two and a half hours a week with an instructor. You can choose your own adventure: learn how to throw on the pottery wheel, learn to create with slabs or coils, explore sculpture!  You can focus on one area or explore all the ways of making with clay.  Expect individual instruction catered to your interests and experience level. 25 lbs of clay, glaze, and firings included. Ages 16+
