Clint is the carpenter, engineer, plumber, and the best cheerleader in the world. Every time you put your work in a cubby or wash a tool at the sink you know who to thank!
Malia is a potter who has been teaching Ceramics at the high school level for 17 years. She holds a MA in Ceramics from Carlow University. She is a proud member of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists and the Craftsmans Guild of Pittsburgh. Currently, Malia is exploring working with colored clay to create textural pieces on the wheel. Her inspiration for this work was a trip last year to Crater Lake, now she wants to go to all the National Parks! Check out some process photos below.
White stoneware clay is colored using Mason stains, then the clay is layered and formed into a block.
The colored clay is wedged together to create swirling patterns
The piece is thrown with a rounded stick then finished with a sponge on the inside. The outside can't be touched or it will ruin the texture!
